HOW DID ETOBICOKE’S LISA HILDEBRANDT GET TO PERFORM A DUET ON TV WITH GEORGE CANYON?

This is how: she auditioned for the upcoming TV series “Big Voice”, a reality show which took folks who had not sung professionally before and prepared them for a high end TV show performance.  The show is a brainchild of renowned vocal coach Elaine Overholt, whose credits include work with the stars on the movies Chicago and Hairspray.

Lisa was put through many levels of training, not only vocally, but for stage presence and confidence too. The song chosen for her performance was the George Canyon/Johnny Reid penned song, “Let It Out” which she rehearsed with Ontario’s Don Neilson and was led to believe her TV performance would be with him.

On the day her show was to be taped, the Big Voice crew treated Lisa to a limo to bring her to Toronto’s Revival Club. As she walked into the dressing room expecting to see Don she was met by George and the band!  It was a wonderful surprise, “My hands were just shaking”, but she thought she might not have been able to walk through the door had she known George would be waiting for her.

Lisa was taken backstage to be prepared by professional hair and make up artists and helped into a beautiful turquoise gown, then brought on stage for her duet.

” We had a great time and Lisa did an amazing job” said George, “the boys and I can’t wait to see the show”  George’s advice to Lisa was, “..don’t stand in your own way”.   Says Lisa “Those words have resonated in my head for months, I am not holding my breath, but if something comes of it, I will grab it with both hands and not let go!”

Lisa’s 30 minute episode of “Big Voice” airs on W Network (check www.wnetwork.com) on July 27th at 8pm EST. http://www.wnetwork.com/Shows/Big-Voice/ShowSchedule.aspx
