TORONTO, ON – On May 25, Canadian country superstar George Canyon will release his 12th new album, Southside Of Heaven (ole label group / red dot), a 12-track collection that reaffirms his renowned skills as both a singer-songwriter and interpreter.

As fans heard when the album’s first single and Top 40 Canadian Country Radio hit, “More You”, arrived, Canyon remains conscious of keeping his sound fresh and upbeat with the help of producer Jeff Johnson (Wes Mack, Chris Buck Band). The second single, “Better Off In Love”, written by prolific hit songwriter Brett Jones (Justin Moore, Jason Aldean), displays that same approach. Elsewhere on the album, Canyon tips his hat to old friend Bruce Guthro by covering his classic ballad “Falling” (featuring Guthro on guest vocals), as well as the late great Stompin’ Tom Connors with a new rendition of his iconic “The Hockey Song”.

I am very excited for the release of my new record, Southside Of Heaven, as it has been in the works for almost two years,” said George Canyon. “It was so cool getting to work with my band live off the floor recording this album. I hope the fans enjoy it as much as we did making it.”

By now, Canyon’s story is legendary. In 2004, with the support of his family, the Nova Scotia native ventured south, quickly becoming a sensation through his appearances on the American television show “Nashville Star”. His debut album, “One Good Friend”, soon followed, earning both JUNO and CCMA Awards. Countless more accolades were to come: 4 Gold albums, an induction into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame, multiple top 10 Canadian Country radio singles, and a SOCAN Award for most played song at Canadian Country radio. To date, Canyon has achieved nearly 7 million total streams.

Canyon has also used his fame to give back to his community and advocate for charitable causes close to his heart. Having been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 14, he’s a tireless spokesperson for the Canadian Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, as well as a strong supporter of the military. Canyon’s many trips overseas to perform for our troops led him to be appointed an Honorary Colonel for the Canadian Air Force and be awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for all of his charitable work. With the release of Southside Of Heaven, George Canyon shows no signs of slowing down his ongoing efforts to keep making the world a better place through music and through helping others.
